Haru Yoshihara (voiced by Chizuru Ikewaki) is an ordinary and somewhat confused high school girl. One day on her way home from school, she saves a small cat that is nearly run over by a car. To her astonishment, the cat stands up and thanks her in a human-like manner. What Haru didn't expect was that her unintentional act of kindness would change her destiny. It turns out that the cat is the prince of the Cat Kingdom, and in order to repay Haru's kindness, the entire kingdom embarks on a comically absurd mission of gratitude, though their "delicacies" — mice — leave Haru at a loss for words. Soon after, Haru accepts the kingdom's invitation to visit and, in a daze, agrees to become the prince's bride. The girl finds herself on the verge of turning completely into a cat, and a mysterious baron (voiced by Yoshihiko Hatada) becomes her lifeline... The film is also regarded as a special side story to "Whisper of the Heart."
