Just as Martin (Michael J. Fox) reunites with his girlfriend in the real world, Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) hurriedly takes them to a future world 30 years ahead. It turns out that this time, Martin's two children have landed in jail for participating in a robbery, and the Doc needs Martin's help to prevent a tragedy. After some maneuvering, the two children are successfully saved, but when the three return to the real world, they find that everything has changed drastically: the world is under the control of Biff (Thomas F. Wilson), Martin’s father George is dead, and his mother Lorraine (Lea Thompson) has actually become Biff's wife! All of this is because the secret of the time machine was inadvertently uncovered by the older Biff from the future, who secretly went back to cause trouble, thus putting the entire world under his control! Martin and the Doc embark on another time-traveling journey, hoping to set the world back on the right track.
