Kousuke Haibara (voiced by Ken Shimo) is a boy who pours all his passion into the sport of volleyball. However, his excessive seriousness leads to an accident, forcing Haibara to bid farewell to Tokyo and return to his hometown, Fukui, to start a new life. In Fukui lives Haibara's childhood friend, Yuujin Kurohane (voiced by Junya Enoki), who is filled with excitement upon learning that his childhood friend is returning. However, Haibara's personality has already changed from what it once was, and a series of events leads to the rupture of the friendship between Haibara and Kurohane. The next year, Haibara enters the local high school and naturally joins the school's volleyball team. Here, he meets the small but passionate captain Shinichirou Oda (voiced by Kento Ito) and his sharp-tongued vice-captain Aoki Misao (voiced by Yuichiro Umehara).
