The protagonist, Takumi Nanase (voiced by Mamoru Miyano), appears to be extremely indifferent, yet his heart is as cold as ice. The painful memories from his past have led him to choose to seal off his emotions, revealing not a trace of feeling. Although he constantly restrains his emotions, Takumi can still feel the flame burning within him. By chance, he encounters a girl who has fainted on the campus and kindly takes her to the infirmary, where he learns her name is Roku Aiba (voiced by Nao Toyama). What Takumi did not expect was that his meeting with Roku Aiba would completely change the trajectory of his life. In a twist of fate, Roku accidentally transforms Takumi into a magician. Following this, his childhood friend Kurumi Isishima (voiced by Masami Seto), his classmate Kazumi Iida (voiced by Kenichi Suzumura), and the school nurse Nanami Hyoudou also gain the ability to use magical circles.
