The carefree high school trio of Isaka Tooru (played by Hayato Ichihara), Motobu Akira (played by Yuu Emoto), and Tamaki Tetsuo (played by Yuu Hiraoka), along with their childhood friend Naminokihara Yui (played by Mao Inoue), live in Okinawa, enjoying a life nourished by sunshine and sea. Their life takes a turn when Tooru has a chance encounter at an aquarium with the elegant older beauty Nakamura Nagisa (played by Ayuko Ito), and falls in love at first sight. By coincidence, Tooru and his friends Akira and Tetsuo end up attending a hugely popular Hip-Hop concert, where the charismatic lead singer Ryota Ryouma (played by Tetsuji Tamayama) captivates everyone. At the concert, Tooru sees Nagisa again. Drawn in by Hip-Hop, the trio—or rather, the three who want to impress the girl—decide to form their own band, naming it "098." The formation of the 098 band coincides with a band competition, but the outcomes are disappointing. Devastated, Tooru finds out that his crush Nagisa is actually Ryota's girlfriend. Meanwhile, Tetsuo faces pressure to pursue further education, with his father insisting he leave the band. The 098 group confronts the crisis of disbandment; what will they do next...?
