High school girl Chiyo Sakura (voiced by Ari Ozawa) has a crush on her classmate Nozaki-kun (voiced by Yuichi Nakamura). To her surprise, after mustering the courage to confess her feelings, she receives an autograph from him instead. Just as Chiyo struggles with the misunderstanding caused by her confession line "I'm your fan", Nozaki-kun unexpectedly invites her to his home. Nervous yet excited, she soon finds herself surrounded by a pile of manga manuscripts and clumsily becomes a manga assistant. Chiyo discovers that her crush, Nozaki-kun, is actually a well-known shoujo manga artist. While his works are known for depicting delicate girls' feelings, Nozaki-kun himself is surprisingly oblivious and has no romantic experience at all. His manga characters are based on the friends around him, who are all quirky and full of contrast. The story continues to revolve around the daily lives of the seven adorable main characters, as in the namesake TV anime.
