"From the New World" is adapted from the science fiction novel by Yusuke Kishi. In Japan 1000 years in the future, children are constantly disappearing while a desperate war ensues between imagined terrifying creatures and humans. This dystopian future super society, "New World," is a realm where humans with the ability to move objects using "cursing power" coexist with "youma," beings with intelligence equivalent to that of ordinary humans. At first glance, everything seems peaceful, but the actions of the children in the "New World" are thoroughly controlled and constrained; unsuitable memories are erased, and children considered problematic are treated as defective products. Those who possess the special abilities known as "cursing power" form a small group within the "Hachijo Barrier," where thoughts and perceptions of the outside world, memories, love, and even the governance of life are ruled.
