The story takes place in a bookstore called "BOOKS Umabone" located in Japan's Electric Town, where Kaiyu (voiced by Ryota Ousaka) and Kohinata (voiced by Natsumi Takamori) work as staff members. Kaiyu is responsible for selecting suitable manga and games for customers, while Kohinata knows little about it all. On the surface, Kaiyu seems very ordinary, but in reality, he harbors a fierce passion for the 2D world deep within his heart. Every day, countless people come and go in the bookstore, and even the staff working there are peculiar "oddities" and "freaks." There are unique and lovable otaku such as a dual-personality doujin artist (voiced by Minami Tsuda), a seemingly weak but aggressive fujoshi (voiced by Ayana Taketatsu), and a light novel author, Tsutomo (voiced by Satomi Sato), weaving together a vibrant tapestry on the streets of Electric Town.
