The story's heroine, Tamako Kitashirakawa (voiced by Aya Suzaki), is the eldest daughter of the local confectionery shop "Tamaya." She has a lively and easygoing personality and excels at making food. She is childhood friends with Tamako's next-door neighbor, Mochizou Ooji (voiced by Atsushi Tamura), the son of the competing confectionery shop "Oojiya." However, their fathers are typical business rivals, constantly at odds whenever they meet. One day, Tamako accidentally discovers a talking bird (voiced by Takumi Yamazaki) at the flower shop. The bird claims to come from the south and carries a mysterious mission. The arrival of the bird undoubtedly adds a lot of fun to Tamako and the people around her, while the happy and romantic youthful school life captivates the imagination.
