In a quiet little bar in Paris, a melancholic and lonely piano accompanist named Charlie Kohler (played by Charles Aznavour) leads a simple and monotonous life. The enthusiastic barmaid, Léna (played by Marie Dubois), is enchanted by Charlie's talent and falls in love with him. It turns out that Charlie was once a renowned pianist who, after his wife's suicide, has been living in obscurity. Léna encourages him to rediscover himself and return to the stage. However, one day, his long-lost brother Chico Saloyan (played by Albert Rémy) bursts into his life while escaping from the threats of the mob. Charlie helps his brother evade the mob's pursuit, but inadvertently becomes embroiled in this brutal life-and-death chase. Fortune does not smile upon Léna, who shares a bond with Charlie, as she tragically gets shot and dies during the chaos. Charlie returns to the old bar, everything returns to the beginning, yet everything has changed. Directed by French cinema master François Truffaut, the black-and-white film "Shoot the Piano Player" is adapted from the novel by American author David Goodis.
