In a corner of Tokyo, the gentle and kind Takano Yinko (played by Sayuri Yoshinaga) manages the pharmacy left by her late husband. For the past 20 years, she has lived with her mother-in-law and daughter, Koharu (played by Yu Aoi). Despite many hardships, their lives have been simple and happy. Now that her daughter is about to get married, Yinko feels joy but also worry. On the anniversary of her husband's 13th death, her brother, Tetsuro (played by Kenpachi Shofukutei), causes a scene while drunk, upsetting the family and friends. Yinko and her older brother, Shohei (played by Toshimitshi Kobayashi), intend to hide this from their brother, yet Tetsuro joyfully arrives despite the news, and as usual, causes trouble while drunk. Tetsuro's actions not only embarrass the family but also affect Koharu's marriage. In the days that follow, this brother, who is over 50 yet never seems to grow up, becomes an unshakeable bond for his sister... This film is a tribute to director Kon Ichikawa by Japan's national treasure director Yoji Yamada, invited to the 60th Berlin Film Festival and awarded a special prize.
