During the 300 years of Tokugawa shogunate rule, the gold and silver produced in Sado were an important guarantee for the government's finances, known to the world as "Imperial Gold." The gold was processed and took great effort to transport to Edo, but during the three-day journey, reef currents became the main threat to gold transport ships. In the winter of the second year of Tenpo, a gold transport ship encountered disaster off the coast of Echizen Maki-e Domain, and the villagers of nearby Kurozaki found the gold and silver, but soon after, all the villagers mysteriously vanished. Three years later, the ronin Wakasaka Sanbe (played by Tatsuya Nakadai) is being pursued by assassins sent by his former friend Tsurukawa Takemoto. He soon learns that the village disappearance incident is about to happen again. What kind of secret is hidden behind this?
