Nella (played by Camélia Jordana) dreams of becoming a lawyer. With determination to achieve her dream, Nella enrolls in the law department of the University of Paris II. Throughout her life, Nella has been an exceptional child, with a personality that inevitably comes off as somewhat arrogant and rebellious, always feeling that others are beneath her. On the first day of school, she conflicts with her teacher, Pierre (played by Daniel Auteuil), due to issues like tardiness and an arrogant attitude. Nella and Pierre's argument is recorded by a well-meaning student and posted online, unexpectedly sparking a major controversy over racism. To address the severe repercussions of this incident, the disciplinary committee is forced to hold a hearing. The principal decides to have Nella and Pierre participate in a student-teacher debate competition.
