The story takes place in a seaside town called Glass Bay, where Takagawa Manabu (played by Masaharu Fukuyama), an associate professor of physics at the Imperial University, arrives for work and checks into an inn named "Green Rock Villa." At the inn, Takagawa meets a boy named Kyohei (played by Mitsuki Yamazaki). Strangely, despite usually breaking out in hives at the proximity of children, this time Takagawa remains unaffected, piquing his keen interest in Kyohei. The body of Tsukihara Masatsugu (played by Mitsuhiro Seki) is discovered at a gravel pit on the shore. He was also a guest at Green Rock Villa and had come to Glass Bay in search of a murderer named Senba Eijun (played by Hakuryu). Despite the numerous suspicious circumstances surrounding Tsukihara's death, the police still conclude that it was merely an accidental fall. In order to investigate the truth behind the incident, Kishitani Misa (played by Yuriko Yoshitaka) arrives in Glass Bay with her colleagues. What Misa finds strange is that Takagawa, who usually shies away from such cases, has actively requested to assist in the investigation.
