As a well-known music critic, Ollie (played by Ben Affleck) is thriving in his career. Besides his professional success, his beautiful wife and lovely daughter Gertie (played by Raquel Castro) make his life seem nearly perfect. However, the sudden death of his wife shatters this idyllic existence, and to make matters worse, a depressed Ollie soon loses his once lucrative job. Out of desperation, Ollie returns with Gertie to their hometown in New Jersey. The pleasant countryside and leisurely lifestyle do not heal Ollie's wounded soul; instead, Gertie feels right at home, not only because of the good weather but also because her previously busy father now has more time to spend with her. By chance, Ollie meets a girl named Maya (played by Liv Tyler), and this precious encounter finally helps him understand what is truly important in life.
