This is an R-rated comedy that combines live-action and CGI, telling the story of a discarded puppy named Reggie who teams up with other stray dogs to take revenge on his former owner. They say dogs are humans' best friends, but what if the dog owner is a total jerk? If that's the case, the Dog Gone Revenge Gang should assemble. Reggie (voiced by Will Ferrell) is an innocent, optimistic, and lively border collie who, despite being abandoned by his scumbag owner Doug (played by Will Forte) on the brutal streets of the big city, still believes that his beloved owner would never intentionally abandon him. However, when Reggie meets a foul-mouthed Boston Terrier named Bug (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a free-spirited stray who believes only stupid dogs need owners, Reggie finally realizes that his owner Doug has been abusing him all along, and that Doug is a heartless scoundrel. To take revenge on such a cold-hearted owner, Reggie, Bug, and Bug's best friend - Maggie (voiced by Isla Fisher), an exceptionally smart Australian shepherd who has been neglected because her owner adopted another puppy; and Hunter (voiced by Randall Park), an anxious Great Dane who feels immense pressure as an emotional support dog, form the Dog Gone Revenge Gang. They brainstorm and come up with a perfect revenge plan and embark on an epic adventure to help Reggie find his way home, ultimately making Doug pay by forcing him to bite off one of his favorite body parts (a little hint: it’s not his paws).
