Because the obstetric nurse admitted to swapping a rich middle-class boy from the Quesnoy family with a girl from the lower-class Groselle family (North African immigrants) 12 years ago, the Quesnoy family does not want to return their daughter and wants to buy their son Momo instead. Momo grew up as a precocious, clever, and slick little thief in a rough and harsh family environment, but when he arrives at the Quesnoy home, he causes chaos. This is a social satire that attacks both the wealthy and the poor simultaneously. The story revolves around a nurse having an affair with her boss, who deliberately swapped two newborns. Twelve years later, after the boss's wife passes away, he is unwilling to marry his mistress, leading her to expose the swapping secret, putting both families, with a stark contrast in wealth, into their respective crises. The rich family wants to take their child back, while the poor family resorts to extortion; after the poor daughter returns to the rich family, she brings many of her previous habits with her; the rich daughter is curious about her biological parents, but they do not want to take her back.
