The lonely young man Alex (played by Denis Lavant) wanders the streets of Paris alone. His girlfriend has fallen for someone else, and soon she will be serving in the military, leaving his beloved film career uncertain. By chance, Alex enters a private party and meets the beautiful girl Mireille (played by Mireille Perrier). Mireille was deeply in love with her boyfriend Bernard; for love, she was willing to sacrifice everything, but this intensity was too much for him to bear, and he chose to escape. Their similar circumstances bring them together, allowing them to share their emotional experiences, which brings their hearts closer. Alex and Mireille cuddle up to each other, and the air is filled with the scent of sadness and hopelessness...
