As they draw nearer to the Lonely Mountain, the path of the dwarven expedition grows increasingly treacherous. They evade the relentless pursuit of the pale orcs and split ways with Gandalf (Ian McKellen) at the dark forest, the latter heading to Dol Guldur to investigate Sauron's movements, while the hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and the dwarves are first attacked by giant spiders and then captured by the elf prince Legolas (Orlando Bloom) and his wood elf companions. In a moment of cleverness, Bilbo uses the magic ring to rescue his friends, which leads to an exciting three-way battle between the wood elves, orcs, and the dwarven expedition. With the help of Bard (Luke Evans), the weary dwarves temporarily find refuge in Lake-town. The castle in the Lonely Mountain, lying in treasure, is about to awaken the dragon...This film is adapted from the original work of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien.
