During an exploration of the planet Nibiru, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) of the USS Enterprise takes a daring move to rescue Spock (Zachary Quinto), nearly endangering the lives of the entire crew, and he pays the price for it. Soon after, Kirk is reinstated, and a terrorist attack in London results in the deaths of over forty people. The perpetrator, John Harrison (Benedict Cumberbatch), is from within the Federation.
