The smart and beautiful company secretary Marnie Edgar (played by Tippi Hedren) is actually a morally corrupt female thief with a compulsive stealing habit. A few months later, she steals nearly ten thousand dollars in cash from the company safe, just as the company's major client, Mark Rutland (played by Sean Connery), is present. He is very interested in this cool and mysterious woman. Coincidentally, Mark is also Marnie's new boss. Marnie has a peculiar fear of red things, which further intrigues Mark, making him believe there must be a story behind this strange girl, and he attempts to get close to her. Rutland's intense romantic advances leave Marnie feeling panicked and uneasy. Although she is also attracted to this charming and handsome man, she still habitually steals cash from the company's safe, planning to escape. Mark prevents her in time and guides Marnie to tell the truth. Faced with her insurmountable psychological barriers, Marnie's hidden identity and the mystery she refuses to reveal is about to be unveiled.
