Hirose Yumi (played by Kumiko Goto) is diagnosed with leukemia and has only six months left to live. Her mother, Yuko (played by Yoshiko Mita), wants Yumi to live her remaining days happily, so she asks Yumi's beloved university student, Akiko (played by Tohru Nakamura), to accompany Yumi as her boyfriend. As summer arrives, Yumi, whose condition had been stable, collapses at school, and at that moment, Akiko happens to be away from her side.
