In 1978, Song Yoo-seok (played by Song Kang-ho), who only had a high school diploma, finally passed the bar exam after years of hard work and quickly transitioned from being a judge to a lawyer. He keenly sensed business opportunities from the latest policies and started his career in real estate documentation. Although mocked by peers as a nightclub lackey who hands out business cards everywhere, Yoo-seok remained undeterred and steadily moved towards his goals. He relied on his earnings to provide a prosperous life for his wife and children, and he also paid off a debt of conscience owed to an aunt from a restaurant seven years prior. As the 1980s arrived, the struggle for democracy in South Korea intensified. Yoo-seok remained indifferent to the outside world, focusing solely on making money. However, the monumental changes in society could no longer be ignored. The son of the restaurant aunt, Park Jin-woo, was arrested due to accusations that his student organization in Busan was a leftist group, and he faced brutal mistreatment and unjust charges. Despite his love for money, Yoo-seok found himself on the path of defending democracy...
