Yoshihiko Sekiguchi (played by Eiji Okuda) is a screenwriter. One day, his former friend Ryosuke approaches him, hoping that Yoshihiko can do him a favor. Ryosuke and his wife Aya are planning to live abroad, and he wants Yoshihiko to take care of their house in Japan and help him proofread a dictionary. Meanwhile, Aya also finds a woman named Reiko to help her look after a small tea shop, thus Yoshihiko and Reiko meet under the same roof. It turns out that Yoshihiko was once in love with Aya, but an accident forced him to face a three-year prison sentence. During this time, Ryosuke took the opportunity to win Aya over, though Yoshihiko has always harbored feelings for her.
