Yuichi Hirose meets a 7-year-old girl named Iori and takes her back to his apartment. Iori, who was a ward of the state, was taken in by the Nanba family but was treated horribly. To rescue her, Yuichi visits the Nanba household, as he had developed distrust of people. Yuichi, who has a home in Tokyo and is assigned to work in Sapporo, is being looked after by a housekeeper named Kane. Although Kane opposes this, with encouragement from his close friend Daisuke Tsushima, Yuichi decides to raise Iori. Ten years pass and Iori is now 17. Yuichi is planning for Iori to take the entrance exam for Hokkaido University. In her high school, there is also Sachiko, the second daughter of the Nanba family, who is also aiming for Hokkaido University. Furthermore, Iori's apartment sees the arrival of Yuko, the eldest daughter of the Nanba family, who moves in. A welcome party for Yuko is held by the apartment residents, and after she performs a stunning dance, she takes a moment to retreat to her room.
