In order to fulfill his father's dying wish, Jack (Ethan Hawke) travels alone to the distant land of Alaska in search of gold mines. There, he meets the kind and friendly Alex (Klaus Maria Brandauer), and the two decide to join forces. A sled dog named White Fang changes Jack's fate, pulling him back from the brink of death. When White Fang becomes a cash cow for ruthless gamblers, Jack does not hesitate to lend a helping hand. Between man and dog, friendship and trust slowly grow. With his talents, White Fang helps Jack and Alex find the gold mine and protects it from being taken by evildoers. When the wealthy Alex invites Jack to return to New York to start a business together, Jack hesitates, feeling reluctant to part with White Fang.
