On a late spring day in the office district, university student Toshio Akiyama was driving a luxury car. His companions, Jun Kitajima, Morishita, and Fujiwara, were all fourth-year university students as well. They stopped the car in front of Ikuko, who was coming back from the bank. She was the secretary of Akiyama Bussan's president, Toshio's father. They forced Ikuko to get in the car, and Jun and Morishita took her money. Eventually, Toshio ordered them to return the money, saying, "This fun is over." Ikuko retorted, "You went to university and still turned out useless," before getting out of the car. The bourgeois sons Toshio and Fujiwara found pleasure in stealing, while Morishita felt tempted by the money, and Jun showed no interest at all. -- A few days later in the evening, Ikuko was puzzled when her colleague, Shinohara, invited her to the movies. Waiting nearby, Jun ignored Shinohara and forcefully invited Ikuko to a party. Upon arriving at the venue, a loud round of applause erupted. Toshio and the others had fabricated a story making Ikuko out to be a newly returned, rising chanson singer. They delighted in watching Ikuko, who was stuck in a bind. When the piano began to play, Jun cut the electricity. They waited in the car. The next day, Jun was pressured by Morishita and the others to compensate for the damages from the party. When Jun refused to pay, the students called Ikuko and made her promise to pay. A scuffle broke out. Toshio ultimately paid to settle things. Ikuko came, left the money, and departed. A few days later, Jun returned the money to Ikuko. -- They spent their final summer vacation at Hayama beach. Ikuko ended up going back to Tokyo with Jun, who was looking for a part-time job. Ikuko promised to arrange a part-time job for him at Akiyama Bussan and invited him to her house. In her room, Jun pushed Ikuko down onto the bed. A few days later, Ikuko was waiting for him on his way back. Jun drove off with Toshio. He disliked being tied down by Ikuko and quit the part-time job. When Ikuko visited him at his apartment, he told her that what happened that night was just a fling, and they were unrelated. Fujiwara was set to go to America. Toshio suggested disbanding if their group was falling apart. Morishita proposed one last big play, planning to target Ikuko on her way back from the bank to steal her money. He borrowed a gun from Toshio. Waiting in the car, Morishita was tense while Jun gripped the steering wheel expressionlessly. Morishita snatched Ikuko's bag. Jun lunged at Morishita. The gun fired. Injured badly, Jun ran over Morishita with the car. He handed the bag to Ikuko, who pulled out a piece of white paper. There was no money inside. Jun's voice, softly saying, "That was just a game," gradually faded away.
