In the future, humanity begins interstellar travel by jumping through stargates. Spaceships can instantaneously traverse tens of light-years and emerge through another stargate. With the large-scale use of stargates, humanity discovers that during the crossing, a spaceship may become lost within the stargate. Once lost, it can take years or even decades to emerge, a phenomenon known as the "Abyss of the Stargate." A starship accidentally becomes trapped in the "Abyss of the Stargate," and of the 21 passengers, only 4 can enter the hibernation pods to have a chance of survival. In panic, the remaining passengers gather in the cargo hold. Faced with the precious slots for survival, the captain releases a captive alien beast in an attempt to control it to slaughter others. Former Mars Space Force pilot Lu Ming steps forward as crew members are successively killed by the bio-engineered monster. After a fierce battle, Lu Ming finally finds the opportunity to inject the monster with a neurotoxin and kill it, but he is unfortunately gravely injured and collapses.
