McCall (Denzel Washington) has been living a life in hiding, everyone believes he is dead, except for Susan (Melissa Leo), who still keeps in touch with him. One day, Susan receives a mission to investigate the suicide of a CIA agent in Brussels and then loses contact, leading McCall to instinctively sense that Susan is dead. In order to uncover the truth behind Susan's death, McCall is willing to return to his former life. He contacts his old partner Dave (Pedro Pascal) and learns that Susan's death is intricately linked to his former associates, who have now become freelance assassins, with Susan being one of their targets. The origin of all these events lies in the case of the agent's suicide.
