During the Sengoku period in Japan, local lords were engaged in constant battles, leaving the common people suffering and separated from their families. It wasn't until the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate that some stability was achieved. However, the ambitions of other lords remained alive, stirring restlessness beneath the surface of peace. After losing his beloved son in the war, Oban Tokuzaemon (played by Yoshio Harada) starts an assassin group under the guidance of Master Tenkaibō Nankō (played by Keisuke Sato), aiming to assassinate the lords plotting rebellion. Amoko (played by Aya Ueto), a girl who has lost her parents, along with nine boys, is taken in by Tokuzaemon and undergoes assassin training. They must not only possess exceptional skills but also abandon all emotions and values. After several years of training, Amoko and her surviving friends embark on their bloody path as assassins... This film won the 2004 Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Newcomer (Aya Ueto) and Popular Actor Award, the Jury Special Award at the 2004 Boston Independent Film Festival, and the Audience Award at the 2004 Philadelphia Film Festival.
