Young and capable Miranda (Halle Berry) is a successful criminal psychologist who, along with her husband, runs a mental health clinic. Both in their personal and professional lives, they are thriving. However, the rational Miranda encounters a challenging opponent—one of her patients, Chloe (Penélope Cruz), is imprisoned for the murder of her stepfather and often lost in her own unrealistic fantasies, which deeply troubles Miranda.
