The story takes place on the eve of the bubble economy's collapse, as a white Christmas quietly approaches. In the early morning at Third Middle School in the eastern part of the city, the body of a student is discovered on the immaculate white snow. The deceased, named Takuya Kashiwagi (played by Ayumu Mochizuki), is a student in Class 3-2. His death leaves his newly appointed homeroom teacher (played by Hikari Kuroki) sorrowful and agitated, while the school feels unprecedented pressure. After the police investigation at the scene, Takuya's death is ruled a suicide. What was initially a quiet incident stirs anew with several letters of accusation. The letters claim Takuya was bullied by classmates Junji Oomoto (played by Shunya Shimizu), Yutaro Hashida (played by Kanefu Kato), and Mitsuru Iguchi (played by Shinta Ishikawa), and ultimately killed by the three. Following this, the media's malicious interpretations and the angry reactions from parents disrupt the peace of the school.
