A sequel to the Battle of Myeongnyang is also set to be produced. According to the film’s production team, the sequel plans to be a co-production between China and South Korea, and is expected to be released simultaneously in both countries, thus completely eliminating the time difference in the release of films from both nations. Historically, the year after the Battle of Myeongnyang, in 1598, the naval forces of Ming China and Korea clashed with the Japanese navy led by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the Battle of No Ryang, where Korean General Yi Sun-sin (played by Choi Min-sik in "Battle of Myeongnyang") and Ming General Deng Zilong jointly commanded and achieved a great victory. If China and South Korea can really co-produce a sequel, it should depict this story, and the identity of the Chinese male star who will play Deng Zilong alongside Choi Min-sik will be highly anticipated.
