15-year-old Juan (played by Brandon López), Sara (played by Karen Martínez), and Samuel (played by Carlos Chajon) escape from Guatemala, trying to make their way to the United States. As they traverse Mexico, they meet Chauk (played by Rodolfo Dominguez), an indigenous smuggler who doesn’t speak a word of Spanish.
