Many years ago, Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman) of Atlantis fell in love with a human, and together they conceived a child—Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa), later known to land dwellers as Aquaman. During his upbringing, Arthur undergoes rigorous training under the sea mentor Nudis (Willem Dafoe), constantly longing to see his mother, a desire that seems unattainable as a half-breed illegitimate son. Meanwhile, Arthur's half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) becomes the king of Atlantis. Discontent with the pollution and destruction caused by land dwellers, he plots to unite other underwater kingdoms to wage total war against the surface.
