"Daughter of the Supermarket" describes a bumbling boss, Gorō, who is poor at managing the old-fashioned supermarket "Seijitsuya." Under the threat of the marketing-savvy "Discount King" supermarket, his business plummets. The "Discount King" even plans to poach several department managers from "Seijitsuya" with high salaries, putting "Seijitsuya" in a precarious situation. Gorō's elementary school classmate, Hanako, a widow, uses her keen housewife instincts to reform "Seijitsuya," improving the packaging processes for sushi, meat, and fresh fish. Although the department managers initially resist change, Hanako remains steadfast in her support for "Seijitsuya," ultimately turning the situation around by convincing the managers that they must face the challenges together, allowing "Seijitsuya" to not only sell fresh food but also cater to housewives’ needs, ensuring they can shop with peace of mind. In the end, "Seijitsuya" breaks through during the New Year's sale, with customers lining up in droves, completely defeating the "Discount King."
