The first installment of the serious kaiju film series "Gamera", produced by Daiei in 1965. Directed by Noriaki Yuasa. A nationality-unknown aircraft carrying an atomic bomb is shot down by a U.S. military plane over the Arctic Ocean and crashes onto an iceberg. As a result, the atomic bomb explodes, reviving the legendary monster Gamera trapped in the iceberg. The giant turtle monster Gamera then disappears, coinciding with mysterious flying saucers appearing around the world. As people's interest shifts to the flying saucers and Gamera is forgotten, Gamera reappears in Hokkaido. The Japan Self-Defense Forces manage to flip Gamera onto its back.
