Seojin (Gao Xiaoying) lives alone in a high-end luxury apartment. One night, while waiting for a train at the subway station, a mysterious woman suddenly pulls her to jump onto the tracks. Shocked, Seojin realizes the woman has already met her demise. Compounded by a conflict with a partner over how to decorate the window display for the upcoming Christmas, she begins to be haunted by nightmares every night. The only somewhat happy event is meeting a disabled girl, Youyan (Zhang Xizhen), who lives in the opposite apartment during a morning run. Youyan, who claims that both her parents are deceased, is being cared for by kind neighbors and lives happily, and at the end of their conversation, she gives Seojin a Rubik's cube. Seojin notices something unusual in Youyan’s room and begins to spy on her nightly with a telescope. She soon discovers that at exactly 9:56 PM, the entire apartment complex goes dark, and the next morning, a body is dragged out. Seojin’s behavior is noticed by a high school girl (Park Hyaseon), who informs her mother, leading to a police report, but Seojin ignores the police's warnings. Soon after, the high school girl apologizes to Seojin, and they become friends. However, her repeated inability to solve the Rubik's cube leads Seojin to uncover secrets related to Youyan, leaving her gasping in shock.
