The protagonist is a middle-aged man named David Mann (played by Dennis Weaver), who is driving alone on an empty interstate highway. Shortly after, a large truck appears and blocks David's way, and he rudely overtakes it. The two vehicles then take turns trying to overtake each other on the road. At first, David is determined to get ahead, but soon he realizes that the truck driver is intent on killing him. He has no choice but to stop and take a break at a roadside diner, where he discovers that the menacing truck is parked outside, and he doesn't even know who the driver is. The truck continues to chase David, and no matter what he does, he can't shake it off. He ultimately has to engage in a duel with this relentless truck... This film is Steven Spielberg's directorial debut, winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Editing for a Limited Series and giving Spielberg the opportunity to direct "Jaws."
