In 1944, as World War II neared its end, the Red Army sent a seven-man reconnaissance team led by Lieutenant Traffkin (played by Igor Petrenko) to destroy the last resistance of the fascists on the Eastern Front. They were to penetrate deep behind enemy lines to gather intelligence on enemy troop deployments. This perilous mission had already claimed the lives of several soldiers, but the brave reconnaissance team resolutely set off. Before departing, Traffkin made an agreement with the signalman Katya (played by Yekaterina Vulichenko) to use "Stars" and "Earth" as their code names for communication over the radio waves. The reconnaissance team successfully infiltrated enemy territory and began transmitting valuable intelligence. Realizing the threat posed by the reconnaissance team, the German forces took it very seriously and dispatched heavy troops to block communication, resulting in heavy losses for the team. Faced with the loss of comrades and the radio station, Traffkin decided to continue forward and complete his final mission...This film has won multiple awards, including the Grand Prize at the 2002 Honfleur Russian Film Festival.
