The sequel to "Prison on Fire," veteran inmate Ah Zheng (played by Chow Yun-fat) has his sentence extended due to conflicts with the former section chief (played by Cheung Yiu-leung). During his time in prison, his mother passes away, and his son Liangzi is sent to an orphanage and even harbors resentment towards his father. Ah Zheng desperately wants to apply for leave to visit his son but faces numerous obstacles from the head prison guard "Ghost See Trouble" (played by Xu Jinjiang). "Ghost See Trouble," frustrated by his failed attempts to bribe the leader of the mainland gang, Big Circle Dragon (played by Chan Song-yong), sees him as a thorn in his side and incites discord between the mainland gang and Ah Zheng. A frame-up forces Big Circle Dragon to escape, while Ah Zheng, also wrongly accused of wronging him, is compelled to flee. During their escape, the two meet and develop a "brotherhood" type of friendship. In the end, Ah Zheng is captured and returned to prison, where he finally gets the chance to confront "Ghost See Trouble" during a riot.
