In the martial arts world, two major sects, Eagle Claw and Snake Style, have been enemies for generations, both wanting to completely eliminate the other. On a dark and windy night, Eagle Claw launched an assault on Snake Style, resulting in a bloody massacre, with only the elder Bai Changtian (played by Yuan Xiaotian) managing to escape. To evade the pursuit of Eagle Claw, Bai Changtian goes into hiding in the market. One day, Bai Changtian is bullied by local ruffians, and a helper from the martial arts school, Jian Fu (played by Jackie Chan), drives the bullies away. However, Bai Changtian's identity is exposed, and he is ambushed by Eagle Claw, narrowly escaping death thanks to Jian Fu’s timely rescue. Bai Changtian decides to teach Jian Fu the Snake Style Fist, and the clever and studious Jian Fu innovates upon it, creating the unique Snake Style Strikes. When Eagle Claw comes seeking vengeance again, Jian Fu stands up to protect his master.
