The plot seems whimsical but actually depicts some shrewd individuals taking advantage of the situation. Following "Goodbye Girl," director Herbert Ross, known for satirizing the absurd interpersonal relationships in big cities through comedy, releases this film, which is another blockbuster for lead actor Michael J. Fox after "Back to the Future." In the film, Michael J. Fox plays Brett, a young man from Kansas who moves to New York looking for work, and ends up delivering messages for an international trading group. However, he overhears several company secrets as a result. When a senior executive position becomes vacant and is left unfilled, Brett takes it upon himself to issue orders from the office, becoming an invisible supervisor and even attracting the attention of the boss. Director Herbert Ross brings this office comedy, mainly set in a corporate building, to life with a lively and smooth execution, offering much satire on workplace dynamics. Ultimately, the main attraction comes from Fox's performance, as he vividly portrays the contemporary young person's ambitious and risk-taking attitude, resonating well with audiences.
