In a remote town, the leader of the Shinpū Group, Shinpū Gen'yō (played by Lily Franky), becomes a local tyrant with his tenacious undead body. A young man named Kageyama Akira (played by Hayato Ichihara) admires the leader's might and wishes to one day become a yakuza boss who upholds human emotions and righteousness. One day, Shinpū is brutally killed by a man dressed as a priest and a skilled assassin named Mad Dog, and Kageyama, present at the scene, is also severely injured.
