In their vibrant youth, Romy (Mira Sorvino) and Michele (Lisa Kudrow) were the dazzling highlights of campus life. With their flamboyant and unique style, they drew everyone's attention but also faced considerable criticism. Now, having entered the workforce, the two still maintain their friendship from back then, yet they are far removed from their former dreams and idyllic lives. A forthcoming high school reunion strikes like a lightning bolt, illuminating their mundane lives. Driven by vanity, they decide to dress up, hoping to reclaim the feeling of being "queens." Unfortunately, at the reunion, their former nemesis Heather (Janeane Garofalo) ruthlessly exposes the facade that Romy and Michele have worked hard to create. Just as they find themselves in an awkward position, Sandy (Alan Cumming), the boy once ridiculed as a "nerd," appears before them as a millionaire.
