Glenn Randolph (David Cross) is an apparently honest and earnest history teacher who attends a party at the home of his friends Emma (Erinn Hayes) and Peter (Blaise Miller) with his online girlfriend Tricia Scott (Julia Stiles). Before entering, Tricia specifically warns him about several taboo topics that should not be mentioned, but the socially awkward Glenn accidentally touches on one of them. The once cheerful gathering becomes tense after Peter and Emma announce their divorce. To make matters worse, their odd neighbor Hal, who is always seen in a biohazard suit, brings them shocking news: radioactive weapons have been discovered downtown, and radiation is spreading to their area. Inside the small house, different personalities clash, leading to bursts of laughter yet also absurd situations...
