Dark-minded Captain Harris sneaks into the Chief's office late at night and finds evidence of Principal Lassard's impending retirement. Satisfied, Harris believes this is a perfect opportunity to replace Lassard. Meanwhile, the principal bids farewell to a group of graduates, and at the ceremony, it is officially announced that Lassard will soon retire. The hardworking principal also receives the honor of Best Police Officer of the decade awarded in Miami. Principal Lassard, along with top police academy graduates like Hightower (Bubba Smith), Karen, Tackleberry, and Jones (Michael Winslow), heads to Miami for the police ceremony. Upon leaving the airport, Lassard mistakenly takes a thief's bag containing stolen jewelry, leaving the desperate thieves with only 24 hours to retrieve the jewelry from Lassard if they want to survive.
