Gautam (played by Saif Ali Khan) is a playboy who frequents nightclubs, and his girlfriend Veronica (played by Deepika Padukone) is similarly a nightlife queen, attracting everyone's attention in the clubs. Gautam's mother hopes her son will marry a virtuous and gentle typical Indian girl who can manage household chores and avoid future troubles. Clearly, Veronica does not meet the expectations of her future mother-in-law. Mira (played by Diana Penty) is Veronica's best friend.
