An international football coach tragically dies from poisoning at a celebratory party, and the diamond ring "Pink Panther" on his hand goes missing. The murder and theft case quickly becomes the focus of attention. The investigation falls to Chief Inspector Dreyfus (Kevin Kline). In desperation, he thinks of the best candidate to crack the case — Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin). Under urgent orders, Clouseau teams up with the dull agent assigned by the chief inspector, Burton (Jean Reno), forming a "dream team."
