Since 1985, large numbers of scientists have flocked to the remote and pearl-rich Carter-Hack Island for various experimental studies. It wasn't until 1988 that a deadly flu began to spread globally, prompting scientists to gather a group of volunteers to test a genetically modified vaccine on Carter-Hack Island to save humanity. They injected a parasite into humans to enhance their physique; although the initial results seemed promising, most of the participants died tragically. Jamie Ackerman (played by Mircea Monroe) is one of the few survivors of this disaster. Twenty years later, to handle her family's legacy, Jamie returns to the island filled with terrifying memories with her boyfriend and brother. Some hope she can find a way to kill the parasite, while at the same time, a new mutant parasite is spreading rampantly, putting the lives of the islanders in even greater danger...
